I recently had the sweetest newborn shoot in the most perfect little greenhouse at Prospect Farms in Lawrenceville, GA! Mom contacted me last year wanting to set up maternity and newborn photos for her soon to be new little boy! I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to work with her. There was just one small problem, the pandemic had my studio closed, and mom wanted an outdoor session to keep her new little one safe. Absolutely understandable. The “problem” though was that her little one was due in January. While we don’t typically get a terribly cold winter in the south, January can still be unpredictable; 70 degree weather one day, and 30 degree weather the next. Newborn photos are so important though (they’re only a newborn for such a short period of time, and they change so quickly) that I knew I had to come up with something to help preserve these memories for this sweet family. So after giving it some thought, I suggested the greenhouse at Prospect Farms. The day arrived at it was sunny, but was definitely on the chillier side. We kept this sweet little boy dressed in the cutest outfit from Zara and after taking some time to settle (it was his first time out other than going to his newborn doctors appointment so this was a big day for him) we were able to capture some really sweet photos for this new family! I am so in love with how these came out, and I am excited to announce that I will be doing mostly outdoor or in home lifestyle sessions from now on. I have really been wanting to transition to more organic, authentic images of new families and this style is perfect for that! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, most of these images were captured on film! Film has captured my heart as it lends itself to that pure organic look so perfectly! It also forces me to slow down and really capture images intentionally so I’m truly capturing the essence of your new family. It’s also so exciting as an artist not to know exactly what I’ve captured, instead I have to wait until the scans hit my inbox to see what magic was on that film (scan days really are like Christmas morning for those of us who shoot film). Most of the images here are film and were scanned by the phenomenal Photovision Prints! I hope you enjoy these sweet photos as much as I do (I mean just look at his sweet face, and that beautiful head of hair)!
