Shelby, NC Gingerbread Meeting House Wedding

Being an Atlanta, Ga wedding photographer, I love any excuse to travel and I was thrilled about the possibility of a road trip when Erica contacted me about capturing her September 8th, 2018 wedding! During our initial phone consult, Erica told me about her fiancé Joey and a little about their story. They sounded like the sweetest couple and her vision for their day was one that made me swoon.

Erica was planning on a traditional wedding at Poplar Springs Church followed by a gorgeous reception at The Gingerbread Meeting House. I looked up the venue and was absolutely in love with the indoor-outdoor feel of it, perfect just incase the weather didn’t cooperate (spoiler alert, the day was gorgeous!).

She had so many personal details like sundrop popcorn as favours, photos of the two of them throughout the reception space, and she included her twin brother as her man of honour (p.s. I love that more and more couples are breaking tradition and having those who are special to them stand by their side, regardless of gender)!

One thing that was a little different for me for this wedding though, was that I didn’t get to meet Erica and Joey before the wedding. Typically, I meet with my #sarahparkerbrides several times before the big day and usually at least meet the groom once before when I photograph their engagement session. (Which by the way, is a great time to get to know each other better as well as kind of practice for the real deal). But since I’m in Atlanta, and Erica and Joey had already had engagement photos done by another fabulous photographer, my first time meeting them was their wedding day! All I have to say is, this couple is the absolute sweetest! The love they have for each other and the love their family and friends had for them was so apparent. I don’t think there was a dry eye during the ceremony, and even though I had just met them, even I was crying!

I loved everything about this wedding and this sweet couple! It was hard to narrow it down, but here are some of my favourite photos. I hope you all enjoy the photos from their day, as much as I loved capturing them!
