So it has been an embarrassingly long time since I’ve posted a blog, but I’d like to say I have a pretty good excuse (although we all know the superMoms out there who can do it all are rolling their eyes at me)! This little bean right here has kept me pretty busy (especially now that she’s walking)! But in the spirit of new beginnings (since I’ve finally updated my site to include my newborn/milestone work), I decided what better way to get back in the blog game than to share some of little beans french inspired cake smash session?! Big thank you to Little One Shop (https://www.littleoneshop.com/ ) for the adorable romper, the super talented Funky Mountain Flowers and Gifts (https://m.facebook.com/funkymountainflowers/ ) for the beautiful flowers, and Petite Boutique (http://www.petiteboutiquesc.etsy.com) for the bow that matched the romper perfectly!
I tried to get as many photos of her as I could before the cake came out (more on that in a second) because I knew as soon as we set the cake down near her she’d go straight for it and be a mess in 2.2 seconds (she actually gave us 2.5 seconds haha).
For the cake smash part, I decided to do something a little different. I am obsessed with France (I speak French and lived in Paris for a little while) and little bean has a French inspired name. It also just so happens that our favourite color is purple, so a French lavender themed cake smash seemed perfect! And in keeping with the French theme, I decided a regular cake just wouldn’t do, and made a croquembouche instead. A croquembouche is actually traditionally used as a French wedding cake, but since I’m never letting little bean leave me to get married (ok, I’m sure she will one day but this momma heart can’t take that thought right now), I figured why not have it for the cake smash instead?
Hubby helped me make the cake, and it was quite the undertaking (and we may have cheated a little bit, but I’ll never tell how. SHHHH if you know though)! I am truly grateful for his help in the kitchen as well as in the studio. This shoot definitely wouldn’t have been possible without him!
I hope you all enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them!
(Pretty sure she’s thinking “mmmmmm, cake!” Haha)
